Happy Friday! ...and your name in chalk

I hope you're gearing up for a fun-filled weekend! This week's flowers are some little pink roses from a climbing rose we have growing on our back fence. It flowers like a mad thing but it all happens on the outside of our fence where we don't get to appreciate it, so I pick as many of the sweet little rosebuds as I can and bring them indoors. I don't know what type of rose it is because it was there when we moved in but it's one of the prettiest I've seen and it has a lovely perfume, too. These little ones are sitting in a Bison jug I bought at one of their stores in Sydney - as you can see one bud fell out but I left it there cause I thought it was still kind of pretty.

I also thought I'd share with you these chalk names from Mia Nolting. She is an artist based in Portland, who does all kinds of interesting things, including selling mystery envelopes (I love the mystery package and actually it's something I've been thinking about for Mr Sparrow for a while...). And for a dollar she will write your name on the pavement in chalk and send you a photo. I love this idea - wouldn't it be a great wedding present to write your friends' names, take a photo and give it to them framed? Or "Happy birthday So-and-so" photographed and printed onto a birthday card? Hmmm...might be time to get out the chalk!
